Editorial Policy

Verification standard

Every figure we publish carries its source and the sample it was drawn from. Where a number is a per-90 rate, we state the minutes it was calculated over. Where a number comes from a third party rather than from our own calculation, we name that party. We do not publish a statistic we cannot trace back to a specific dataset, league and season.

Small samples

Per-90 metrics become unstable at low minutes. Any player with fewer than 900 league minutes in the season under discussion carries a small-sample warning, and we do not present percentile ranks for those players as settled results. A striker with three goals in 200 minutes is not a 1.35 goals-per-90 striker, and we will not describe him as one.

Cross-league comparison

We do not place a J.League per-90 figure beside a figure from one of the five major European leagues and treat the two as equivalent. League strength, match tempo, refereeing and defensive structure all differ, and none of that is captured by the raw rate. Comparisons in our reports are made within a league and position group first. Any cross-league statement is presented as a judgement, labelled as such, and never as an arithmetic result.

Verdict taxonomy

Every scouting report closes with one of five verdicts. They describe the state of our own tracking — not a recommendation to buy.

WATCH

The profile is interesting and we have started tracking it. No claim is being made yet; we are recording a baseline so that later movement is measurable.

MONITOR

We hold an active thesis about the player, with specific numbers that would confirm or break it. The report states the trigger conditions and the review date.

CASE STUDY

The piece exists to illustrate a market mechanism rather than to assess one player. The player is the example; the structure is the subject.

REALIZED

A previously stated thesis played out as described. We link back to the original piece and its publication date, so the claim can be checked against what we actually wrote at the time.

NOT_BORNE_OUT

A previously stated thesis did not play out. These stay published, with the original text intact and a note explaining what we got wrong. Our Track Record page lists them alongside the calls that worked.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we correct the article and leave a dated note recording what changed. We do not delete published articles, and we do not silently edit a claim out of existence. If a correction changes the conclusion of a piece, the note appears at the top of it. Corrections can be requested by email or via @FarPostData, and are handled ahead of other enquiries.

Conflicts of interest

Far Post Analytics is independent and self-funded. We accept no payment, access, hospitality or other consideration from any club, agency, licensed intermediary or player representative, and no club or agency reviews our articles before publication. We do not represent players, we do not broker or advise on transfers, and we hold no financial interest in any transfer we write about. If that ever changes for a specific piece, the disclosure will appear in that piece.

Advertising

This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising is sold and placed by Google, not by us. We have no relationship with the advertisers whose ads appear, no advertiser sees our editorial before publication, and no advertiser can commission, review or withdraw an article. Ad revenue is not tied to any individual article, player or club.

Transfer fees and wages

Fees and wages are rarely confirmed by the clubs involved. Unless a figure has been disclosed officially by the selling or buying club, we label it “reported” (published by a named news source) or “estimated” (a third-party valuation such as Transfermarkt). We do not average competing reported figures into a single number, and we do not present an estimate as a fee.
