About Far Post Analytics
Far Post Analytics is a scouting database that gives overseas scouts and club staff a single, clear view of player data across Japan's J.League (J1, J2 and J3).
What we do
Data-driven recruitment is reshaping football. We look for the next talent not in the leagues everyone already watches, but in the Asian leagues still in the shadows. We convert appearance records and detailed stats into per-90 metrics and position-based percentiles, giving you the first signal you need to think: “I should go watch this one.”
Why the J.League
The J.League is one of the few professional markets of its size where public statistical coverage stops well short of what a recruitment department needs. J1 is reasonably well covered. J2 and J3 — where most of the country's professional players actually are — are not covered in comparable depth by the commercial providers European clubs subscribe to. That gap is the reason this site exists. A player who would be flagged automatically in the Netherlands or Belgium can spend three seasons in J2 without ever appearing on a shortlist abroad: not because he was assessed and rejected, but because nobody ran the numbers. An inefficiency like that does not last forever, but while it lasts it is the cheapest edge available to a club willing to look.
What you will find here
Three things. A searchable database of J1, J2 and J3 players with per-90 metrics and position-adjusted percentiles. Scouting reports on individual players, each closing with a stated verdict and the specific numbers that would confirm or break it. And insight columns on how the Japan-to-Europe market actually works — which clubs buy, what they buy, and what the fees have really been. Every report we publish is logged on the Track Record page, including the ones that did not play out, so the hit rate is visible rather than asserted.

Data source and limits
Player records and photos are provided via API-Football (api-football.com). The database covers full J1, J2 and J3 squads for the 2024 season — 1768 players — with detailed per-90 metrics held for 490. J-League-specific advanced indicators (Chance Building Point) are taken from Football LAB (football-lab.jp). The numbers here are a starting point for scouting only; any recruitment decision must go through your own verification and live observation.
Where the data comes from
We keep our sources separate rather than blending them. Match records, appearances, minutes and the raw counting stats behind every per-90 figure come from API-Football. J.League-specific advanced indicators, including Chance Building Point (CBP) metrics, come from Football LAB (football-lab.jp) and are always attributed as such. Transfermarkt is used only to cross-check market valuations and transfer histories — never as a source for on-pitch performance. FPA Score, the attribute percentiles and every per-90 rate on this site are our own calculations from those underlying records, and the arithmetic is set out in full on the Methodology page.

Far Post Analytics is a publication, not an agency. We do not represent players, we do not broker transfers or introduce clubs to intermediaries, and we accept no compensation connected to any move we write about. We are not affiliated with the J.League, with any club, or with any data provider. Nothing here is an offer, a recommendation to buy, or a valuation to act on without your own verification — it is analysis, published so that it can be checked.
