About Far Post Analytics
Far Post Analytics is a scouting database that gives overseas scouts and club staff a single, clear view of player data across Japan's J.League (J1, J2 and J3).
What we do
Data-driven recruitment is reshaping football. We look for the next talent not in the leagues everyone already watches, but in the Asian leagues still in the shadows. We convert appearance records and detailed stats into per-90 metrics and position-based percentiles, giving you the first signal you need to think: “I should go watch this one.”
Methodology
Every raw stat is normalized per 90 minutes, then converted to a percentile against players in the same league and position. A six-axis attribute profile — scoring, creativity, passing, dribbling, defending and duels — plus a player map that plots attacking and defensive contribution on one screen let you read a player's type at a glance. The metrics sharpen as more data is collected.
Data source and limits
Player records and photos are provided via API-Football (api-football.com). The data currently reflects the 2024 season — the most recent complete season available — with detailed metrics added for more players over time. The numbers shown are a starting point for scouting only — any real recruitment decision must go through your own verification and live observation.
About the operator
Choi Bong-jin
Founder & Analyst · Far Post Analytics
After more than ten years following the J.League and Asian football, I started this site out of a conviction that Asia is always a blind spot in the Europe-centric scouting conversation. I collect and process API-based match data myself, and combine percentile analysis with live match observation to find a player's real value behind the numbers.
Every insight column is analyzed and written first-hand from publicly available match data, and each article states its data sources and the limits of the analysis transparently.
